Supporting Every Student to Be Ready to Learn
At Shailer Park State School, we know that when students feel safe, connected, and supported, they are ready to learn.
Our Wellbeing Hub is a calm, welcoming space where students can take a moment to regulate, reflect, and reconnect before returning to learning.
What Happens in the Wellbeing Hub
The Hub provides a range of proactive and positive supports designed to help students build resilience, confidence, and emotional awareness. Students may visit the Hub to:
- Re-Charge & Check-In – short, purposeful breaks to help students refocus and return to class ready to learn.
- Reflect & Regulate – learn and practise strategies for managing emotions and solving problems.
- Connect with Support Staff – speak with a trusted adult such as our Head of Student Engagement or highly skilled Teacher Aides.
Lunchtime Activities
During lunch breaks, the Hub is also open as a calm and inclusive space for students who prefer quiet, creative or social activities. Some of the activities on offer include:
- Colouring and drawing
- Lego and building challenges
- Puzzles and quiet games
- Chess and card games
- Meditation and relaxation sessions
- Table tennis
These activities encourage positive interactions, teamwork, mindfulness, and a sense of belonging for all students.
Our Approach
The Wellbeing Hub operates as part of our whole-school approach to student engagement and behaviour. We focus on teaching and reinforcing positive behaviour, building strong relationships, developing a strong sense of belonging and helping students develop strategies to manage challenges independently over time.
Our goal is for every student to feel seen, valued, and supported so they can thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
